If the US and other countries are out of the ME, then why should we worry about terrorists? Terrorism is largely a military tactic all the propaganda to the contrary. It may use religious and ethnic fervor to incite those who get roped into the act itself but it is a poor man's tool against a much larger enemy.

It is, unfortunately, cheap and reasonably effective. Where is that murderous thug OBL anyway?

The best way to take the air out of the sails of terrorism is to stop meddling in affairs using the military. We can meddle in the ME using MTV, ipods, the net and DVDs and do it much more effectively.

For all the money that we've spent in Iraq, we could have paid for every man, woman and child in Iraq to take years off of work so as to quietly contemplate democracy, politics, education and ski vacations. Use BRIBERY not GUNS.

"So no problem letting Iraq become a terrorist stronghold ? "

I think as soon as we leave, the Iraqis will go after the OTHER foreigners in their country, the jihaddis. The only reason the Sunni ally with them is because we empowered the Shia. Now, we've ignited a civil war. We have no business there.

The jihaddis operate in countries all over the world. They don't NEED Iraq, but it is a great Darwinian training ground for them, thanks to us.

They've got a great protected headquarters in Waziristan in Pakistan.
