I've been there mjfdl. I know what the problems are. For years I had an undiagnosed corn allergy that could make me vomit for quite a long time if I ate anything with any type of corn product (including modified food starch- which is often from corn.) I had no idea corn was the problem, because it's in so many things in so many forms.

When you are teaching a class of second graders, you can't just leave them to fend for themselves while you walk out of sight to a bathroom. You just can't do that. You can try to call a replacement, but if you have to vomit in a hurry, good luck. The nice thing about an office environment is that you can run to the restroom any time you want- even in a meeting you can excuse yourself. It's amazing to me that anyone would argue about this. It's just common sense, which (apparently) isn't all that common. I spent a lot of time out on the stoop out the back door, out of sight of the kids, saying "I'm fine- go on with your work..." while throwing up. I assume other people with similar types of problems have similar issues. I've talked to a woman with IBD and a woman with an as yet undiagnosed intestinal problem- and both had similar experiences.

I don't know what kind of evidence you want. I posted an article but I mean unless you are completely without any imagination you should know what the problem is, even if you haven't taught. It's not like it's hard to understand. You can't leave little kids alone and just excuse yourself to go to the bathroom. That's a difficulty. It doesn't mean you'll have poopy pants, and it doesn't mean teachers are "victims", but it's a challenge- more for some than for others.

Why you fixated on this I'll never know. I know why it interested me- because I had a major problem with it, but why it so transfixed your interest, and why you decided this couldn't be a problem, is really odd.
