Teacher's unions have recently prevailed on the new Democratic Congress to kill an incentive pay bill which would provide inventive pay for exemplary teachers and principals. A unions job is to look out for their members interests, and yes, occasionally it is at the expense of quality education. Educational vouchers would favor good quality education, whether public or private, and disfavor poor quality education. I think its morally objectional to sacrifice childrens educational opportunities on the altar of liberal idealism.
