Re: Did you miss the layoff of 10,000 people at Intel? What did it do for their margins? Their last prediction was they would decline further.

How could anyone here miss it? Obviously niceguy believes Intel is still bloated. I tend to agree. Back in 2003 Intel had 79,700 employees. After the ~10,000 job cuts which aren't expected to be finished until Q2 07 Intel will still have about 92,000 employees.

I believe they said that that would result in $2B savings in 07 and another $1B in 08. So $2B this year and $3B each year thereafter. That's why you didn't see anything in Q406... In fact, they had charges in Q4 for that operation.
