For once I agree with you. We shouldn't have been in Lebanon; Reagan should have let Arik Sharon kill Yassir Arafat there and then. Think how much better the whole situation might be without the poisonous influence of the PLO. BUT having gone in, we should NEVER have run away when our troops got bombed. That sent the message that it is cost-free glory to kill American troops, and we have been paying for it ever since. We needed to make it understood that killing American troops carries a price high enough to make anybody think twice about it.
