the concept of pickling by definition is an old old process - it was a way a person could preserve food when things like refrigeration were not available...

as an example my mom makes mango / lime pickles this year, to be consumed next year - never kept in the fridge.

I only did it once and I think it is a really old, old method of pickling. The pickles turned out terrible.

My favorite pickle recipe -

1. Drive to Albertson's

2. Buy large jar of Claussen's Dill Spears.
