Well I don't live in the USA, so aside from what I read in the paper, see on TV, and learn from the results of the election, there isn't much other way than the media to guage the opinions of the American people.

This poll result surprises me a lot.

By identical 57 percent - 41 percent margins, voters agreed with these statements: I support finishing the job in Iraq, that is, keeping the troops there until the Iraqi government can maintain control and provide security.

My impression has been the an overwhelming number of Americans are ready to depart Iraq pretty soon (now, 6 months, one year), regardless of the affect that has on the Iraqi people. But hey, what do I know?
