one has to choose between 3 options:

(1) to lose faith and go with the observations/science
(2) to become a fundamentalist/fanatic and choose "God's word" over "man's knowledge"
(3) to try to reconcile the text with the modern beliefs via interpretation

Reminds of a joke about an unfaithful husband and his explanation of where he was the night before. The wife said "but I saw you do it with my own eyes". To which he responds: "are you going to believe me or your own lying eyes?.

Now a question to you: if you believe that the text may be in error, but you don't know where the error is or how big it is (which would have to be the case, otherwise some form of correction could be made), then of what value is the Book?

Such a naive question. Isn't this what Mohammed asked about the Bible? As I recall, he was illiterate. Couldn't read the Bible at all.
