Nadine As I recall, we were trying to end the civil war and protect the PLO and Beirut from Arik Sharon. You need to take something for that memory problem of yours. The PLO were holding their own in Beirut. Like I mention earlier, the IDF could not penetrate Beirut for Months. The US interfere to save the Israelis for humiliation. What did the Israelis do after the US brokered a deal, they entered Beirut and committed atrocities and massacres. One more time the US paid the price of Israel with 200 fine Marines.
