No, the messages of 911 were: 1. Terrorism has been used with about a 50% success rate to move the enemy's troops out of a prized geographic area. What happened to the US troops in Saudi Arabia? 2. No matter how much wiretapping and email reading is done by any rightwing government, killing civil liberties doesn't prevent such horrible attacks on the homeland. 3. The USA does not need to be meddling in the ME as it does not profit us. We are much better served developing new sources of energy, letting despotic government stand or fall on their own and becoming a neutral third party in the Israeli situation. 4. A few dozen people with about $250K in resources can make 300 million Americans nuts. Americans need to be smarter, braver and more rational. We also need to be educated, skeptical and more demanding of our government. 5. The USA is not the country we thought it was. We are more fragile, our liberties are more tenuous and our character more malleable than we ever thought. We need to be better Americans.
