Wilson lived in Niger for two years, and worked at the embassy. Niger is a shithole of a country without much to interest us, it's the poorest country in the world. I doubt the CIA had anyone with any greater experience of Niger, that would agree to drop whatever they were doing and go BACK.

They PICKED him. They could have chosen anyone. He was probably the only person anyone was aware of that had ANY experience in Niger at all, and the one best suited to investigate whether Niger had sold Saddam any yellowcake ore. He'd also been stationed in Baghdad, knew Saddam, and commended as a HERO by Bush Sr. after Gulf War I for his actions at the embassy!

Name someone more qualified, with greater knowledge of Niger AND Saddam. He seems the PERFECT fit to me.
