Smooth, what was the last fortune 500 company to go bankrupt? Did they close down ops and pack up or were they restructured, recapitalized or sold to a strategic buyer or a private equity investor? Did their products disappear or do they still compete, vigorously?

Intel has had a larger advantage over AMD in the past and yet AMD is still around. Intel can have 10 generations better process technology, which will make them more profitable but unless CPU prices fall below the marginal cost of production for AMD ($25/chip?), they will continue to compete and the OEMs will continue to buy from them.
