"Abraham couldn't read. "
but Dylan could

Oh God said to Abraham, "Kill me a son"
Abe says, "Man, you must be puttin' me on"
God say, "No." Abe say, "What?"
God say, "You can do what you want Abe, but
The next time you see me comin' you better run"
Well Abe says, "Where do you want this killin' done?"
God says, "Out on Highway 61."

Friend told me Dylans dad was Abe. Now I understand what he was saying a bit better, maybe. Was Bobby to be a sacrifice to the Gods of the american middle class life that Dylan was rebelling against? Reason he offended so many leftists is that he viewed the 60s as not left/right fight but generational. Thats why is music still has resonance for me. Man i am too fucking old to be rebelling against my almost 90 year old parents. Off to cvs to buy some depends (for them, not me).
