I agree with your sentiment. When people claim not to understand I challenge them on that because I don't believe it. Like the conversation we had here last week on Holocaust denial and Armenian genocide denial. People here understand why we prefer to say American Indian war and avoid the word genocide. There were plenty of battles but there were also deliberate genocidal strategies, acted upon during that conflict. We get it. With regards to getting Muslims to speak up about the terrorists, most average people will condemn it with no hesitation and there are spokespersons who've condemned it ... yet everybody can see the truth, it continues and it gets informal support as well as funding from powerful groups. Why is it not loudly and overwhelmingly denounced as a strategy to the extent that no-body but a shameful mercenary would be willing to use it? In order to loudly and overwhelmingly denounce that, any Muslim would have to include all forms of heinous conduct. The USA has a higher level of rapes, assaults, murders, thefts than almost any country in the world. It also has the most destructive capabilities militarily. Have we loudly and overwhelmingly denounced the mass destruction of innocent people's blood that is on our hands. Nuking cities of innocent people is still a viable threat we hold in our bag of tricks, and don't mind bringing out and admiring on occasion. Face it, you don't want to be in that spot light, neither do most people. I realize it is a horrible and unfair comparison. However, when you ask for an explanation as to why others don't denounce the evil within their own culture, you must simultaniously come clean on the conditions at home ... which frankly are understandable, or not, in the same light.
