I'll have a look at the articles. I just listened to an interesting talk by Christopher Hitchens on Orwell (available thru Google) when the Q&A session moved onto the Iraq war, Hitchens answers by musing on how Orwell managed to be right by avoiding herd thinking of the day. Hitch mentioned that every day he now argues with anti-war types saying that they KNOW that Iraq had no WMD.

He points them to a book by Iraq's top nuclear physicist about the nuclear centrifuge buried in his garden. A centrifuge is an extremely expensive piece of equipment, necessary for the production of weapons-grade uranium. He also notes that Saddam was negotiating with NK for off-the-shelf nukes in early 2003.

We wouldn't know either of these things if the regime were still in place.

You don't know them either, if you only get your news from the NYT, unless maybe you read the fine print very carefully.
