Blogs are corroborated by other blogs, and since there is a herd effect, one lawyer's comments on the case will be checked by other lawyers. Blog etiquette says you correct swiftly if someone points out your error.

The process and the editorial board at a newspaper, even supposing no bias involved (which is never true, everybody has bias), simply does not have the knowledge necessary to corroborate any technical details, whether of law, of science, of economics, etc, etc. With few exceptions, the liberal arts reporter and his liberal arts editor are left to make the best of it, under a tremendous time crunch. The results are usually riddled with errors.

In fact, a good blog that gathers the commentary of six people working in the field is far more likely to be accurate than any newspaper story.
