I haven't read any of those guys (except Mark Twain), and I read a lot.

Norman Mailer can't find anything better to write about than a murderer who chooses the firing squad over the noose. en.wikipedia.org

Criminals don't interest me, which is why I think these people who moan and groan over whether a doctor should be held responsible for failing to remove the needle if the condemned starts to 'feel pain' are just flapping their jaws to feel the wind. The firing squad is so much more non-returnable.

Maybe I'll have to start reading Wolfe just because Mailer doesn't like him.

Give me a thumbnail synopsis of A Man In Full. I checked to see if our little library had it. It does, but the book looks pretty dense (not in the pejorative sense), but hard to read.
