SANGHAR, Feb 23: The cruel custom of ‘karo-kari’ claimed another two lives when two village girls were dragged in the streets and hacked to death by their uncles, accusing them of having tarnished the family’s honour. The girls — first cousins — were buried without any religious rites and the family declined to accept condolences.

The gory incident took place on Thursday in the village of Allah Bux Brohi, near Shahpur Chakar. The two uncles surrendered to police. They said they had done the right thing and felt no remorse.

They told journalists that they had been informed at about midnight on Wednesday that the girls — Farida, 18, and Hamida, 22 — were missing from their room. They went in search of them and found them in a banana orchard with two men who ran away.

The two uncles have been identified as Khamiso Brohi and Imamdad Brohi.

The Death Cult and democracy cannot coexist - witness Iraq and Lebanon.

They have been a number of "death cult" societies that are now democratic, the most notable being Japan.

But think about something here.. Islam, as a religion, has no religious hierarchy. There are no popes, bishops, priests in Islam.. only scholars. Muslims are directly accountable to God (Allah) for their actions in this world. No priest can grant them absolution of their sins.

As a religion, they are incredibly democratic, as they can choose to follow whatever scholar they feel most comfortable with.

But let's not presume that democratic choice equates to choosing the path of non-violence. In fact, in such a decentralized form of religion, there is every reason to believe that extreme perspectives (Salafism versus Sufism, for example) will wage internal battles to gain followers.

It just may require a "Turkish" solution (ala Ataturk) for democracy (AND SECULAR RULE) to prevail and provide the umbrella of government statuatory law that permits all faiths to be practiced, albeit peacefully.

Thus, adopting your perspective leaves only one solution.. A "Final Solution" perpetrated by the West that eradicates Islam from face of the earth.

Are you willing to pay the price in treasure and blood?

I'm not.. I think there are other options.
