seems to me a studied approach to a complicated world....Maybe so, but do you deny that all that wonderful brain power did little to secure our interests in any corner of the globe?

I suspect we will see the old attitude of "why not attack U.S. assets" soon enough.

They pass out Nobel Peace prizes and accolades to those that "talk, but accomplish next to nothing". If there will ever be any progress in the middle east, it will come from those that have the courage to expend considerable political capital and personal reputation to plant the seeds to a better way. It may turn out to be a huge mistake thinking enough people of that region have the foundation to grab what is being offered them, but at least we got past just talking.

I have always had more respect for those who at least tried.
