Nope, it's your lack of understanding of how these things are calculated. It depends on a formula that takes into account increased city driving and acceleration vs highway mileage. There are other quirks in there. The reporter isn't the one doing the math. Rather, it's the EPA.

Its rather amazing how Harris works so hard to discredit positive developments like the Prius. Makes you wonder what his agenda is.

No one is disputing whatever methods the EPA uses to come up with the new MPG ratings.

Steve is just disputing the way the reporter is using "fuzzy math" to spin the new ratings.

Like I just told CJ, the Prius went from 45% of the average car's gas consumption to 47%. Not much of a "nuance," but enough to show that the trend is opposite of the reporter's spin.
