I haven't asserted or tried to prove that debt and the deficit are not problems. I've only pointed out that they should be measured against the size of our economy, and that by such measures the federal government deficit isn't of unusual size compared to other nations, or compared to a lot of post 1940 US history. Which doesn't mean it isn't a bit big right now, or that there is no negative effects from the deficit. Merely that it isn't extraordinarily high when correctly measured.
