My Gt Grandmother was the product of a marriage between a native and a white man. The natives stripped her of her treaty rights for doing so. My Grandfathers family referred to my Grandmother as "The indian" never of course in front of her children or grandchildren, that would have led to injury. While the whites were not kind to the natives, the Natives were pretty crappy to other natives as well. Grandma once went to meet some of her native relations, and they simply slammed the door in her face. Too white.
