I had a handshake years earlier when he ran for senate. He had these piercing blue eyes. Remember his trip to Mississippi walking among the poor starving black folks, yes they still were starving in 68. No political bullshit--his tears were genuine. Remember the speech to the doctors in medical school who he excoriated them for their priveliged position while the poor were drafted to fight the vietnam war. Remember the cross country train ride after his assasination and plain folks standing along the way with home made signs and salutes. Yeah i know he worked for joe mac when he started out and was as ruthless as karl rove when running brother jacks campaigns--that proved to me that pols can have heart and go all out to win all at the same time. I dont believe that anymore.
