What you say may be correct, but it is exactly what the company is saying. Their fuel rods are a mix of Thorium, Plutonium and Uranium I believe. The idea being that the extra kick of the plutonium get the Thorium going which burns hot enough to destroy the plutonium. (Viola! we have a means of arms reduction while generating electricity) Nobody has been pushing pure Thorium at this point. The Indian research is probably the most advanced in that area.

"OTOH, giving thorium reactors away, yes giving them away, is probably the most economical solution to nuclear non-proliferation."

I understand the fuel rods will work in 60% of existing plants now, and according to what I have read actually extending the life of the reactors. I have also read the costs of new plant construction and safety factors necessary are minimal compared to the costs of building our current facilities.

"Thorium will happen when the DOD wants it - never ?"

I think the DOE, EPS and many other US government agencies may have some in put as well. Do we just keep on poisoning the population, that does not make for good tax payers now does it? Its amazing the amount of cancer down wind in Linclon County WA or the 3 generations of Indians with cancer and other disease tied to the mining of uranium in AZ.
Perhaps a novel idea is that the John Q Public might get a say.
As for the company stating "burn and plutonium" I would suggest that is just as much for our Congressmen and our Senators as well as George Bush Jr. as it is for the "masses".
Thank you for lecture and links...DD

BTW by the stock performace today, I wonder if any one is interested, truly pathetic.
