I've been posting here on SI for many years. There are many on the left and on the right extremes who have engaged me, over a broad spectrum of topics and with varying degrees of ferosity. Often accused never guilty ... no lies.

People who disagree with me on this thread accuse me constantly of lying. The best you can do is deliberately misinterpret one of my statements. Don't you guys have any other tactics on this 'Truth' thread.

" I thought it was a korianic directive to lie to infidels for advantage, particularly in defense of islam and alah. Am I wrong? Doesn't every word and sentence in the koran stands upon its own merit? Did I miss something?"

I am not an Islamic spokesperson or a religious scholar of any kind. I have heard that said about Muslims a lot. It has always been in anti-Muslim forums like this one. I don't find that odd, I've come to expect it. If you say it enough does that make it true? If you find a radical terrorist who says it does that validate the notion? I find it interesting that I have never heard Muslims say that. But I suspect you have some explanation for that, either that this is also a lie that fits your claim, or that my experience is somehow not as valid as what you thought the korianic directive to be.

I wasn't born yesterday. I know that most people lie when they think it beneficial and justify it in a variety of ways, religious and otherwise. Its a choice and I've chosen not to.

I have challenged Muslims to show me religious justification for any lie. The only one that they were able to document was, 'if an enemy is torturing you to get information that they could use to cause harm to your loved one, you are permitted to deceive them.' It doesn't say you must but it says you are permitted to if you can see the torture will be successful in breaking you down anyway. This, like most other reasonable directives, is abused by extremists so that they can justify their terrorist bombings and such.

" Again your retort suggests to me that rational, unemotional discussions with is islam may little more that disappointing. Disappointment seems almost axiomatic when discussions involve the understanding and compromise of sirah law – or tautologically, the irreconcilable religious/philosophical pre-suppositions of islam.

That comment and others you've made suggest to me that you get your information about Islam and Muslims from sources that see a benefit in feeding you a particular perspective. ... a bigoted one. You are of course free to accept that if that is what you like.

"Could this explain why moderate islam is unable to take a meaningful stand against radical islam? It appears that moderate islam may lack the fortitude and conviction to scrutinize, criticize, and synchronize the koranic text with modern reality."

There are a multitude of stands being taken from diverse perspectives and there are dozens of venues being taken. I doubt you are interested in any explanations that aren't provided by the extreme bigots that feed you, otherwise you would already be much more informed on the topic. You are free to do as you please but it is obvious to lucid and decent people everywhere, extremists like you are the favorite tool of radical Islam. It is odd to see you take such pride in it but your conduct is your business I suppose.
