Far from wasting time you have pushed the focus of discussion in a productive direction. One that seeks ideas, information, and practicality. Good for you. Radical Islam is an extreme venue that began at least partially as a reactive movement to Western culture. It has gained momentum as a result of its success at creating order where corruption and chaos had ruled (Ex: Afghanistan). Its goals have evolved to include the intent to annihilate all opposition. They probably view themselves something like Noah in the arc waiting, not to patiently, for the world to be cleansed of all that opposes their fascist way of life. The obvious contradiction there is that it isn't one perspective that has joined the radical ranks but many. Extremism now knows no nationality or ethnicity. There is extremism within our own culture that operates thoughtlessly as tools of extremism from foreign terrorists. Our own western extremists have picked up the reactive extremist agenda and threatens our cause from within. "Does anyone here agree that the "solution" to the problem of radical islam should be discussed in terms of viable solutions? Nuke em all is an extreme and unrealistic agenda. There are third and fourth generation Muslims now living in Western society. They are enjoying opportunities and benefits that would not be available in their ancestrial homelands. This perspective is being shared world wide and is likely to bring about beneficial change. There are also benefits in learning and adapting some of the cultural influences from new immigrants. That is and always has been one of the things what made America a great nation. This should be encouraged and continued. Some Westerners are experiencing overwhelming fear of threats that are difficult to identify. This can cause paranoid psychosis for people who normally are quite rational and decent. To deal with this we need to continue to challenge extremists, the foreign kind as well as the home grown kind. We can work together to identify real threats and strategise to protect ourselves from harm. We can also communicate openly and honestly in non-threatening circumstances to dispel unrealistic fears.

I have to assume the reference to GZ's nuke post is the same answer as "The United States will do whatever it takes to get the job done". No real information is provided. I just look at his "handle" to discern whether he is referring to nuclear annihilation of the Islamic world. Does anyone here agree that the "solution" to the problem of radical islam should be discussed in terms of viable solutions? Absolutely. And one VERY VIABLE solution is to neutralize Jihadist attacks on the homeland by forcing the Islamic world to defend it's own turf. We see the Islamic world applaud when the US is struck by a devastaing terrorist attack.. But when muslim militants are killing other muslims, it ain't so funny anymore... That's the key.. don't let the Jihadists gain the upper hand in the Islamic world.. Support any, and all, attempts to isolate, neutralize, and destroy pockets of violent militancy in the Islamic world. And foremost in those strategies should be the targeting of Jihadist leaders, recruiters, and propagandists. A war of counter-terror against these perpetrators of Islamic militancy. Hawk
