I try to learn from history but not to judge people living today by their heritage or as though they are the living representative, responsible for events occurring ages ago and under entirely different circumstances. Maybe you and I are different in that respect.

I personally don't see invasions or conquerings that were centuries old to be a valid reflection of current concerns. Any war crimes then or now are condemnable.

"... should they also be called radical islam."

Presuming the historical record is completely accurate, unbiased, balanced in perspective, lacking in contradiction, fair and just in its recollection of past events (which none of us do), I would answer, 'NO', the two are not the same at all.

I agree. Do not forget the basic tenet of killing the "infidel" if you cannot convert him. That still holds true.

As for radical Islam's being a response to Western behaviors, what about the Sudan? There you have Islamics killng blacks.
