My feeling on this is the one thing the PPT can not control is a large pick up relentless selling pressure from the public sector.
i think they realize if the public panics they can't stop it.
i think they work hardest to stabilize market before the public starts rushing to sell/sell/sell.
The message is being drummed out that a 10% correction would be natural and expected. This is to sooth the public, imo.

So in my view the PPT will be doing all they can to Not have any correction in the SPX greater than 10% as they see a high risk that a break below a 10% sell-off would initiate panic reaction in public.
This is ALL WILD CONJECTURE on my part, however:) Max
