I don't think you are being fair to koan. I have lived with the loss of opportunity. It is a real loss. If you could have crossed the river, but the bridge is blown up, then you can judge the other side as possible. Otherwise there would be no outlay possible in suit.

If opportunity were nothing then how were you betting in the first place?

Opportunity value equalling zero is the philosophy used by the ones with cash to deny the owners of ideas and implementation the chance of profit that if they have no cash to implement.

Without these concepts being real cost benefit would not be rationale. In the end ALL decision making is based on tomorrow's conjecture, i.e. chance and opportunity.

Opportunity is just an expression of multiple possible outcomes. If one can hedge towards the best of these, with a finite resource, then it is valid to do so.

Sorry to see koan commit threadicide. He had so much to offer. Even in a straightjacket he could be entertaining. As long as he had a straw for the beer, and a toe free to do scrabble with.
