That same irresponsible rhetoric kept us from assisting Europe in WWII until Hitler invaded the Soviet Union, when the Hard Left and Fellow Travelers were instructed to change their tune in order to garner US assistance for Stalin. Not that this did the trick, the Pat Buchanans of the 1940s were able to keep their feet on the brakes until Pearl Harbor, which is why they immediately started accusing Roosevelt of chicanery vis-a-vis Pearl Harbor. Now I have a question for you -- who had Roosevelt's ear when the topic of saving European Jews came up? Not the Republicans, is my guess, since Roosevelt was an internationalist liberal Democrat.
