I don't really know. I socialize with a few Arabs my own age. They tend to be the ones who like to hang out in an Irish pub and drink Fosters while watching sports or listening to a band, and they are completely normal people. You could stick many of them in the sports bar in Baltimore and you wouldn't know that they were from the ME. There may be some of the extremists wandering around here somewhere, but we probably run in different circles, if you know what I mean.

When presented with the option of extremism or what we consider a normal life, I imagine its pretty hard for the average Arab growing up to be tempted by extremism. A pint of beer seems a lot more preferable to a suicide vest. And driving to the market when you need to go to the market seems a lot preferable to being "pious" and not driving to the market when you need to go to the market.
