let's see: Chicago PMI at 47,5? that's a horrendous number. new home sales down over 16%? that's quite shocking as well, although probably not too big a surprise, since that is what happens when an RE bubble collapses.

would it be too daring to conclude that in spite of the stock market's apparent nonchalance, the US economy is already in recession?
