Ok, thanks. I bug people for a bigger picture view, when they highlight withdrawing from Iraq as an easy out (of our problems). People who commit suicide usually do that because getting out seems like a solution... not that withdrawing from Iraq now is necessarily suicidal for America but it doesn't resolve all the issues.

I agree......we're now in a position of having to choose the lesser of two evils.

Ditto for the fiscal mess this admin. has created.

Did anyone watch Bernanke's testimoney this morning? His predictions that over the next 25 year period US debt will exceed 100% of GDP if Congress fails to address the problem of entitlement obligations?

I'm not sure the US leaving would necessarily make it worse. I think it might be bloody, in the short run, but I think it will be bloody even if we stay- and I think it's possible there will be more killing with us staying, than there would be with us leaving. At any rate, it's such a foul choice at this point I think we do what saves us money- since both choices are equally iffy, when that occurs, I choose the cheapest one- and in this case, that's pulling out.

Why does it have to be either/or?

Why do we let George W Bush define the terms?

We can't we withdraw in an orderly manner?

Why can't we follow the ISG or the Biden proposal?

Why can't we talk to the Syrians, Iranians, Jordanians, Saudiis, etc?
