A *massive* tax increase. (And, a sneaky one, at that....)

Seems they are relying on the old favorite of politicians who want to sneak tax increases through: BRACKET CREEP and INFLATION.

Since medical costs in the US have been rising much faster then the over-all level of consumer inflation for *DECADES* now... it's a pretty safe bet that (absent something like some of the major structural reforms that we discussed the other night...) they will *continue* to rise at high rates.

This, and the fact that the President's proposal puts a ceiling on the tax-free nature of employer-supplied medical benefits... then doesn't index that for the annual inflation in medical costs --- GUARANTEES that, just a little while down the road, the tax burden for individuals goes way up....
