I'm not bright enough to be an economist. But I see trends and currently I don't feel real good about the direction we're going. You know I'm a Republican but I'm mad as hell about how much money they've spent.

Some president, maybe Truman, said "find me a one handed economist", because his economic advisers would say "one one hand...but on the other hand..." when answering a question or explaining something. Economics is more of a "soft science", like sociology or psychology, then it is a "hard science" like physics or chemistry. Out of the hard sciences its more like astronomy, then some of the others. You can observe and theorize, but you can't experimentally test large parts of the field of study.
