You apparently see the need to address that deeply ingrained totalitarian ideology as the core of the problem, as do I. And there is no doubt that this is the roots of Radical Islam. What you seem to be denying is that we have that element in our own culture, or that if we do, one has nothing to do with the other. Right? Have you ever seen radical black racists getting into a confrontation with radical white supremicists? I have, in fact that is the only scenario, in American, I can imagine where these groups have a venue. One is used to justify the others actions. I know of children in my community who are Muslims and describe two different experiences. Child 1) In the fourth grade gifted and talented program at elementary school. Plays flute in the school band. One of the stars of the jump rope team. Learning two foreign languages. Had to choose last Saturday between a birth day party, a sleep over, or playing with Neighborhood friends. She chose the birthday party. None of this involvement was with her Muslim friends. On Sunday morning she went to the Mosque Sunday school and played with one of the kids from there in the afternoon. She sees and hears some of the comments about Muslims, like those posted here, and just laughs and says naaah, where do they get that crazy stuff. She plans to be a scientist but is also a talented artist and writer so is keeping her options open. College is not even discussable with her, she's determined to go for it. Child 2) Not too successful at academics. People have said in front of him that Muslims are difficult to educate because of their culture. He also hears from Americans comments like those presented here. 'You are taught to lie to us, and to kill us by your religion, so you are bad' etc. He goes straight home and frequently complains about having been bullied. He is isolated from social activity accept at home of course. He is told at home that if he mixes with the Americans they will make him have sex with them, do drugs, and drink alcohol. Which kid would you worry about? Do you think your worry has anything to do with what is said and done? I think it would be easy to deeply ingraine totalitarian ideology, for child number 2. How do you think he would do if put into a camp with GZ, longnshort, and Darren? Do you think any of that is reflective of what is said and done in our culture?
