The Founding Fathers picked the lesser of two evils. They concluded, perhaps rightfully, that more than two parties could result in wacko minorities like the Religious Right taking over the country with only 25% of the vote. Think about it. It makes sense. Or on the left Jesse Jackson could have become president when he ran if the vote had been split. What would President Perot have been like? Or President Pat Buchanon?

The Founding Fathers believed firmly that a well-informed majority was the only group to trust. And by well-informed they meant the press had to be free and able to expose lies and corruption.
