Yes, the oil lobby is a real menace. And I emphasize REAL, not a "boogeyman" as you claim.

They are paying for the phony scientists who claim pollution is not causing global warming. They have corrupted many politicians, especially those from the oil patch.

Bush let them infiltrate the EPA to censor scientific reports. And since 2000 the energy industry as a whole has colluded to price gouge whenever they've felt like it, maybe over a trillion bucks worth, including the dastardly phony energy crisis on the west coast where Enron led the way. Enron was then Bush's #1 ally. Halliburton is Cheney's #1 corporate ally and has reamed taxpayers in Iraq plus all kinds of other fraud.

Put it all together and they really are a fat bunch of pigs and stinkers. And the real problem is they have bought and paid for a lot of corrupt politicians who are still in power.

So the answer is re-regulate the energy industry, create a new clean fuels industry across the board which will allow us to gradually replace oil and gas, and to become independent from the Arabs especially ASAP so we don't have to fight anymore wars over there. Because you know damn well Bush never would have picked Iraq to invade if they didn't have a lake of oil.

Oil really is one of the roots of all evil these days, along with religious extremism. And so long as we are addicted to the stuff we will have to indirectly fund terrorists. Remember it's Saudi Arabia which funds most of the terrorists. It's not Iran, Iraq or even Pakistan.
