In 1919 The Grand Mufti conceived of a hatred of Jews, and started to kill them. Jews and Muslims had lived in "relative harmony" prior to that. In 1938 he made treaties with Hitler, and in 1945 the Yugoslavians wanted to try the Grand Mufti for Genocide and crimes against humanity. The world refused, but considered charges against the Serbs, victims of the Muslim Waffen SS, for their retaliation against the Bosnian muslims who had slaughtered their families in the 1945 war. The fault lies with us, and our press and our view of History. We allow Islam to claim that Islam had no part in the holocaust, when in fact there were whole battalions of Muslims fighting for Hitler. We ignore Haj Amin al-Husseini, and his hatred and his immense influence on Islam. We ignore his gifts to the world like his alleged nephew, whose name to the world was Yasser Arafat. The history of hatred of Islam for Israel lies not in some vaunted wounded pride, but in the Nazi propaganda introduced into Islam by the Grand Mufti, and nurtured by his disciples and followers. But they cannot claim that they are simply following the hatred nurtured by hitler and a few diseased and inferior intellectuals, so they claim it all stems from israel. Which in a way it does. Hitler blamed all the ills of the world on Jews. So do Muslims. Until Islam comes to grip with this legacy of hatred, Islam and Naziism should be often and openly linked so that the world comes to understand the truth of the origins of this violence.
