Dear Ali:

Your experience with computer is apparently limited to gcc and/or Visual BASIC. Try something else, some hardware simulation or design packages, Xilinx ISE for example...

Apparently you don't have much experience either. Try MRP (Manufacture Resource Planning), CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing), NMRI (Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and Computerized Warehousing to name a few that I was involved in. Too bad you are involved with stuff that can be developed on a DOS based PC. That really limits you who didn't know about 'make -jX'. There are millions of Linux people who do that make quite a bit. Even on my single core A64, make -j2 gets the compilation job done faster than a simple 'make'.

Anyone who uses Gentoo as a distribution recompiles the whole thing including hundreds of applications. Just like I do at home. I compiled nearly everything including X11, the libraries, KDE and MySQL. The only things I didn't compile was Opera and Oracle. And since I have been in the computer business for over thirty years, I think I have more wider ranging experience than you.

Pete

i don't know about you but i frequently find myself running ise & ncverilog simultaneously. that never happened to you? or running multiple ise sessions? or running a matlab simulation & ncverilog at the same time?
