yeah well I actually think, to some extent, the wealth gap is going to be addressed by this never ending bear market. Stocks don't go up like they used to so for example every VP at intel is basically working for a salary. Doesn't help when the middle class is falling apart so the bottom bar is getting lower but stock based wealth creation is a lot less than it used to be.

I think the US fiscal picture basically looks horrible. We have no facility to pay for the retiring baby boom, (that was what the surplus was supposed to be for) and we just doubled the national debt in this decade. Globalization is presenting pretty serious issues for the labor force etc but all the politicians are doing is talking about Iraq. Not that that is incorrect, its just the state of affairs.

I'm not really in stocks to any degree right now and I think anything USD denominated is a pretty bad bet. Otoh we wtill have really strong companies like google that you can make a small amount on buying and selling at some trough. BIDU might be a play to be in but when BIDU went public I think most were expecting better growth than we have seen from BIDU, I was, for sure. Remember BIDU was $140 at IPO.
