Human Liver, Head Mistakenly Delivered To Home
Body Parts Were Meant For Lab

POSTED: 1:05 pm CST March 3, 2007

CASCADE TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- A Michigan couple expecting a delivery of furniture parts said they were surprised to receive human body parts instead.

The two packages from China -- which included a liver and a partial head -- were mistakenly dropped off at Franck and Ludivine Larmande's home this week. They said a DHL express driver thought the bubble-wrapped items were pieces for a table.

The woman said her husband began unwrapping one package and said, "This is strange, it looks like a liver." He started to open the second one, but called the sheriff after spotting an ear.

Authorities said the preserved body parts were destined for a medical research lab. They said 28 similar packages might be dispersed across the country. Two other packages broke open en route, scattering their contents.

A DHL spokesman said it's looking into the matter.
