”I am non religious and do not favour any organized religions..... From all that I have read or learned in my lifetime religions have almost always been the cause of world conflicts and millions of dead people.”

Then you must be well read because you said almost always instead of the ‘always’claim some like to make. Stalin’s regime was responsible for the deaths and suffering of countless innocents, Mao had a top notch kill rate as did Pol Pot.

Its easy to make a general comment that most of the bad things can be blamed on religion during certain religious eras or with respect to certain religious cultures. It’s like walking into a room where everyone is arguing and declaring that it is a communication issue. No doubt that is a true statement but isn’t all interaction between human beings communicative? Religion, in a religious culture is similar, in that you can identify religiousness in all endeavors of the culture, the saintly, the corrupt, and inconsequential daily living.

I actually thing taking a non religious yet principled position on human endeavor is admirable, when it becomes impossible to separate the bad from the good or simply innocuous effects of religion. However, when you advocate for anti-religiousness you are sponsoring the next Stalin. When you advocate anti-one particular religion you are sponsoring the next version of feeding innocents to the lions for entertainment.
