How would you 'deal with them now'? Are you advocating a convention war, or even a nuclear war, versus Iran? Or simply an action against their nuclear facilities?

In 2001, Iran elected moderate pro-western leaders. Then came 9-11. At that point there was a great opportunity to start open dialogue with Iran and settle some of our differences. But no, Bush-Cheney did the opposite. In their zeal and lust for war with Iraq (and maybe Iran) they villified the entire country in the Axis Of Evil speech. I'm not sure if that was deliberately trying to start wars, or was just trying to parrot Reagan's "evil empire" speech, it was a terribly destructive speech.

As a result, the Iranian voters kicked out the moderates and elected the America-hating macho man. And in a sense, you can't blame them. Bush all but declared war on the country of Iran with his Axis Of Evil speech. And remember, Iran has never attacked us. In fact they even helped us to some degree after 9-11.

BTW, Cheney's Halliburton conducted secret and illegal business transactions with Iran in the 90's. So ask yourself where their morals really are on this question. Could it just about taking away their oil-fields like Bush-cheney have already done in Iraq? Very likely that was the entire reason for the war. Iraq certainly had nothing to do with 9-11, and Iran and Iraq had no Al Qaida affiliations. In fact as we know learn, they are enemies of Al Qaida.
