"Unless they search the Mosques for weapons they wont find any." Agreed! (They are simply 'lying Doggo' in the bushes to avoid giving US troops any obvious reason to attack their movement. Meanwhile, however, they maintain and even increase their military and political strength....) They --- and the rest of the ruling Shia coalition makes up the governing majority in Iraq --- are QUITE HAPPY meanwhile to have maneuvered 'Uncle Sucker' into fighting their Sunni enemies for them. (All very 'Middle Eastern' strategy....)
