Regarding your Penryn/Nehalem question:

Penryn will have some small improvements (possibly more for Java/.net) but mainly will be improved from a clock/power point of view.

Nehalem is a new architecture, with the memory controller brought onboard, removing all of AMD's advanatges there. It is also rumored to support 2 threads per core.
