On the one hand, you claim we always win. On the other, most of the thread is not only convinced that Iraq is doomed, they are convinced it was doomed from day one, not by any mistakes the coalition forces made.

We are all in agreement. The military mission to defeat Saddam Hussein was successfully completed. What the administration is doing is incomprehensible. The military is now deployed in the middle of a chaos that has no name (is it civil war, is it sectarian violence, is it gangs gone wild, is it AQ related, or is it all of these things?)

The definition for success or failure does not exit.

Something's screwy here.

Agreed. Something is screwy here.

Winning in the real world does NOT equal looking spiffy on parade. If that were true, Saudi Arabia would have one of the best armies in the Mideast, lol. The army has to be well trained - and battle is by far the best reality check of what works - and your enemy has to know you have the will to use it.

The race may not always go to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but that is the way you bet.

Compare the equipment that our soldiers have, the technical, and combat training they undergo and compare to that the training our enemies undergo as they sneak out of the caves in the dessert to march and kick sand. What are the chances these people have a chance to get out of the dessert and cross oceans to get to us?

You tell me there are people that think those people hiding in caves have a chance to win in combat against our military.
