My guess is that he will do well in debates. He was rather quick with retorts and able to not show the not-so-politically-friendly side. But there will be moments, with the press, with his aides, etc., when he will show the other side. And it will get publicity. But, despite Alter's piece, I still think the fundamental flaw in his candidacy is his lack of fit with the social conservatives. The other stuff, the dicatorial tendencies couple with a very hot temper, may trigger some serious skepticism. But I think it will underline the lack of fit rather than be a negative cause of disaffection by itself.
