I think you're all missing the point. The difference between a faggot and a redneck is the group being referred to, and whether they're a "protected" category or not. You could use the same logic with "dumb men" or "stupid women." Anybody can make fun of dumb men, but catch hell for talking about stupid women. Just look at TV commercials.
