Kruschev banged his shoe at the UN, said the Soviets will bury the West, and "your children will live under communism"

At the present rate, in 50 years Russia will be broken into pieces, there population will shrink by emigration and lower birthrates, and it will become a minor power, left as a buffer state against future Asian expansionism.

They will need to move closer to the EU to have any security.

Russia's role may be to provide defensive buffer for Poland ;-)

A good article...

This question was phrased in a funny way, if the United States was left out and only Europe mentioned, then I expect there would be a large change in the responses -

***********from the article

Seventy-five percent believe that Russia “is a Eurasian state with its own path of development,” while only 10% think it “part of the West, with a vocation to move closer to Europe and the United States.”
